In 2009, 100 years after our inception, we began contract packing large leaf teabags, for a few select customers. By the end of 2025, our volumes increased to a current capacity of 85 million large leaf teabags per year. These are always packed in PLA (biodegradable) materials, with a focus, as always, on quality. We also have the ability to wrap each teabag in it’s own fully branded envelope (made from recyclable materials). These teabags allow consumers to enjoy high quality loose leaf teas, in the convenience of a sustainable teabag. Whether Enveloped or Naked, these teabags can be packed in to a variety of formats, suitable for Wholesale, Food Service or Retail.

Tagged and Enveloped Paper Teabags

In 2014 we purchased our first Tag and Envelope machine, packing both Retail and Food Service products. We have since increased the number of machines and have a current capacity of 52 million teabags per year. With this format, customers are able to supply great quality teas, in a food safe pack, in to hotel rooms, conference centres, busy food service environments and even in the home.

Loose Leaf

Since the turn of the Century, we’ve been packing high quality loose leaf teas in to a wide range of formats, some of which are packed by hand, others through our semi-automated machines and some through our fully automated machines. Whichever the method, great care is always taken to ensure the quality of both the tea/infusion inside the pack, as well as the appearance of the pack itself. Loose leaf teas have seen a resurgence in demand over the last 2-3 years, with consumers becoming more quality focussed and accepting of the time it takes to brew really great tea, whether that be at home, or at high end food and drink establishments.

Square Paper Teabags

In 2013 we commissioned our square paper teabag machine, running at up to 1,800 teabags per minute! This machine is set up for packing bulk formats, primarily packing 1,100’s and 440’s for Wholesalers and Food Service markets. Ideal for fast moving and large volume catering outlets.

Sustainability

At Reginald Ames, we understand that packaging solutions are very important to our clients as the world moves towards improved sustainability wherever possible. We have been using biodegradable teabag material for nearly 10 years now and actively encourage all customers to utilise FSC cardboard with their products, along with biodegradable heat sealed bags. There are still improvements to be made and we have a dedicated NPD team, working hard to eliminate all single use plastics from our business. 

We can create and design packaging to your specifications thanks to the years of experience we have gained working with multinational companies and startups alike. Our team can work with you to develop unique packaging or, alternatively, we are happy for you to supply us with pre-designed packaging.
